Peter David, Inc. - SOLD
One of the largest sports pin companies has been sold. At the present time, we are not sure if the buyer will continue to manufacture a “Peter David” line of pins or simply sell out the remaining merchandise. If the Peter David line is being discontinued, it may lead to a “collectible market” as real pin collectors try to get their hands on some of the more desirable Peter David product. What does this mean?….
If the buyer of the company is going to continue the Peter David line, the sale of the company may not have much of an affect on pin collecting. But we do know that the buying company is not a true pin manufacturer, and may not truly understand the pin market as it pertains to the collector. Peter David, Inc. has always done a nice job creating high quality collectible pin merchandise and limited edition items with fast turn around times. The new owners of Peter David, Inc. manufacture many other products and we really don’t think they will have much focus on the continuation of the PD line. We are sad to see the original owners of Peter David ride into the sunset, and we hope we’re wrong about the buyers….time will tell.
If the new Peter David owners are simply acting as distributors for the tens of thousand of pins sitting in Peter David inventory, then the Peter David line is finished…and what a collectible market this would create. Collectors are going to want to get their hands on some of the more desirable Peter David product that will never be seen again. And if you are collecting a Peter David series such as the Super Bowl History Pin Series, we suggest you update or finish collecting your series as soon as possible. I know the publisher of this blog is having a very difficult time getting any product from the Peter David warehouse and we are running out of PD product very quickly. To purchase original Peter David, Inc. product, go to Classic Pins.
We thank Peter David, Inc. for many years of pin excellence
