Super Bowl XLII Dangling Commemorative Pin Released
When Peter David, Inc. went out of business late last year, one of the most missed items they manufactured was the Super Bowl Dangling Commemorative Pin Collection. The collection consisted of similar looking 3″ pins commemorating every Super Bowl ever played. We received many calls from customers stating their concern that they would not be able to continue their collection since the company that made these pins is no longer in operation. To the delight of our pin collectors, Classic Pins is now offering the continuation to the Peter David, Inc. Super Bowl Pin Set line.
This is a highly sort after pin, so Classic Pins is now taking pre-book orders on this item. When ordering, you can choose whether you want the pin sent to you regardless of who wins the Super Bowl, only if the Patriots win, or only if the Giants win. If your desired scenario does not work out, Classic Pins will cancel your order for that item. To pre-book your Super Bowl XLII Dangler pin, click here.

Obama Won’t Be Shopping At Classic Pins As He Drops American Flag Pin
WATERLOO, Iowa - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, D-Ill., said he will no longer wear an American Flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for “true patriotism” since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
He commented on the pin in a television interview Wednesday and then again on Thursday at a campaign appearance in Independence, Iowa.
“My attitude is that I’m less concerned about what you’re wearing on your lapel than what’s in your heart,” he told the campaign crowd Thursday. “You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those who serve. You show your patriotism by being true to our values and ideals. That’s what we have to lead with is our values and our ideals.” - Courtesy (AP)
It is hard to argue the point that wearing an American Flag pin does not substitute for an act of being patriotic. But it almost seems that Obama hints that wearing one can make you unpatriotic. Or that other rival politicians donning an American Flag pin, who do not share Obama’s political standpoints, are creating a double standard by wearing such a patriotic item.
Wearing the American Flag pin simply reminds people who we are and what we stand for. Should we stop wearing the American Flag pin because we don’t agree with the views of some people who do? Do we stop wearing our pendants or pins that express our feeling concerning God because we don’t all share the same views about our Heavenly Father. The answer is no! Obama should put his pin back on to remind us all what he stands for. Wearing an American Flag pin has nothing to do with our acts of patriotism… but purposely removing it does! So Mr. Obama, we will not accuse you of double standard patriotism when you make your next controversial political decision, because after all…you don’t wear an American Flag pin.

Coca-Cola to produce Olympic Pins from ‘Bird’s Nest’ Steel
Coca-Cola will be working with the official pin licensee in China to produce Coca-Cola branded Olympic pins from the same consignment of steel as used in the construction of the Beijing National Stadium.
Earlier this year, Worldwide TOP Partner The Coca-Cola Company hosted a delegation from China, including the team responsible for building the landmark Beijing National Stadium and BOCOG, at its global headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Chinese team presented a gift of a section of steel weighing over 500 kilos which came from the same batch as used in the construction of the innovative Beijing National (or “Bird’s Nest”) stadium.
The section of steel will remain on display at the world headquarters of The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta as a lasting memento of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
“By using leftover steel from the Bird’s Nest construction in the manufacture of Coca-Cola pins, we are bringing people closer to the Olympic Games experience, and supporting the pursuit of a “Green Olympics,” said David Brooks, Vice-President and General Manager of the Coca-Cola Olympic Project Group. “It was an honour to host our guests in Atlanta and receive this beautiful memento of our involvement with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.” - Courtesy IOC
Peter David, Inc. - SOLD
One of the largest sports pin companies has been sold. At the present time, we are not sure if the buyer will continue to manufacture a “Peter David” line of pins or simply sell out the remaining merchandise. If the Peter David line is being discontinued, it may lead to a “collectible market” as real pin collectors try to get their hands on some of the more desirable Peter David product. What does this mean?….
If the buyer of the company is going to continue the Peter David line, the sale of the company may not have much of an affect on pin collecting. But we do know that the buying company is not a true pin manufacturer, and may not truly understand the pin market as it pertains to the collector. Peter David, Inc. has always done a nice job creating high quality collectible pin merchandise and limited edition items with fast turn around times. The new owners of Peter David, Inc. manufacture many other products and we really don’t think they will have much focus on the continuation of the PD line. We are sad to see the original owners of Peter David ride into the sunset, and we hope we’re wrong about the buyers….time will tell.
If the new Peter David owners are simply acting as distributors for the tens of thousand of pins sitting in Peter David inventory, then the Peter David line is finished…and what a collectible market this would create. Collectors are going to want to get their hands on some of the more desirable Peter David product that will never be seen again. And if you are collecting a Peter David series such as the Super Bowl History Pin Series, we suggest you update or finish collecting your series as soon as possible. I know the publisher of this blog is having a very difficult time getting any product from the Peter David warehouse and we are running out of PD product very quickly. To purchase original Peter David, Inc. product, go to Classic Pins.
We thank Peter David, Inc. for many years of pin excellence
